Worship with us! Sundays 10:30am

Worship

What to Expect

FCCA’s sanctuary is adorned with stained glass, curved ceilings and archways, curved pews on a gradient slope and a raised chancel.

We gather on Sundays at 10:30am for worship services that weave together spoken word, music, visual arts, and interactive rituals that invite congregants to move around.

Inspired by biblical stories and metaphors, our creative, multi-sensory worship services explore themes that are relevant to our contemporary lives and express our commitment to justice, equity, and inclusion.

Our spirit of welcome is palpable during the passing of the peace, as people move about the sanctuary to greet one another, followed by a rousing welcome song with hand-clapping and children dancing and playing instruments on the steps of our chancel. In all of our written liturgy, we endeavor to use gender-expansive terms for God, such as Spirit of the Living God, Holy Presence, Creator, and Gracious and Loving One. Generally, male pronouns in biblical texts, both for people and for God, are replaced with non-gendered language.
We celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion once a month, on the first Sunday, and our table is open to all regardless of age or religious affiliation. A monthly Communion offering is taken in support of a local, national, or international need. On non-Communion Sundays, we have a time with the children based on the theme of the day. The children then leave the sanctuary and gather for Children’s Church, a sacred community space created for and with children.

Music + Art

Worship at FCCA is an experience that engages head, heart, body, and spirit. Through the creative arts, we create sacred space for praise and reflection.

MUSIC

A spirited blend of traditional and contemporary hymns and songs accompanied by instruments such as the piano, conga drums, tambourine, and our historic 1905 Whalley-Spencer pipe organ. Contact music director Janice Peterson to get involved.

The FCCA Chancel Choir, Easter 2022.

CHANCEL CHOIR

Members of our voice choir offer praise to God and help to lead the congregation in worship. They find spiritual fulfillment in practicing, learning, growing, and communing with others.

RESOUNDING JOY RINGERS

Members of our handbell choir give of their talents and gifts, offering praise to God through music. They enjoy bringing the beautiful sound of ringing bells and chimes into worship approximately once a month.

SANCTUARY ARTS

Our Sanctuary Arts team creates both seasonal and theme-based sacred space installations, seeking to visually express the themes of worship in tangible ways. Their purpose is to provide an evocative, intentional, and sacred space that affirms, supports, and inspires seekers’ encounters with the Divine.
