Led by our Justice Outreach Ministry Team, we have a strong tradition of service in support of the concrete needs of the Alameda community, as well as advocating for social justice locally and nationally. Our faith teaches us to embody love in these ways. This is how we care for each other and the world.
Our church serves as a monthly host for Dine & Connect, a dinner program for unhoused and other at-risk people in our community.
Church members provide monthly dinners for the Alameda Midway Shelter for women and children.
Our church has partnered with Shelter in Peace and other organizations to “walk” with immigrant families to assist them in establishing their lives in Alameda. Learn more.
We hold periodic drives to collect donations of school supplies and personal care items for local organizations that serve people in need.
Our buildings are part of our ministry. We open our space for reduced rent to community groups, and our school building houses The Phillips Academy, a school serving teens with special needs.
We believe that our faith lives are dynamic, always growing and changing, so we seek to create opportunities to ask questions, explore new ideas and perspectives, and share spiritual practices that nourish and sustain us.
A space of connection for anyone aged 18+. Through prayer, discussion, and creative expression we come together to nourish our spirits, deepen our understanding, and discover how we can engage more meaningfully in practices of love and justice.
During Lent (2026) we are walking with the Old Testament Prophets and finding hope in the messages they left behind.
We believe church can be a place that empowers youth, as beloved children of God, to ask questions about God and life, explore who we are in the world, and collectively imagine and work towards possibilities for creating a more loving and just future for all.
An intentional community space for youth 6th grade through 12th grade. Through conversation and discovery, fun and service, we build community, explore what is meaningful in our lives, and practice how to be engaged and compassionate people in the world.
We believe in nurturing a sense of wonder and creativity within children so that we can connect to God in every aspect of our lives and develop a capacity for curiosity that will sustain us and empower us to grow.
A sacred community space for children where through movement, prayer, art, ritual, play, story, music, and service, we build community, connect to God, and practice how to be loving, kind, just people in the world.
In a pick-up pageant we all gather to collectively unfold the sacred story of Jesus’ birth. In preparation, we spent time imagining the different Christmas story characters and who we felt called to be this year.
Our Earth Day weekend beach clean-ups bring together participants as young as 4 and others in their late 70s to steward our earth locally.
Our pastor is available for spiritual nourishment, prayer, and support, and welcomes inquiries about the church or progressive Christianity.
In a world where we are increasingly separated from each other, FCCA is a place that nurtures togetherness through care for one another. Our Congregational Care Team keeps us connected and whole through a variety of care-giving, from hospital visits to handwritten notes, while our Circle of Prayer prays regularly for the concerns and joys of our community and its friends. Make a prayer request.
The Good News Ministry Fund is intended to serve the concrete needs of people in the Alameda community. Church members or regular visitors may submit an application on behalf of someone in need. Requests are considered for any need that is not readily served by existing social service agencies in our area. Examples include material needs such as school supplies or medical expenses not covered by insurance, or other goals such as family counseling. The Good News Ministry is a concrete expression of FCCA’s promise that “all members of this church are ministers.”
