Our beautiful, historic church building is available for rent to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and private individuals for non-commercial events and activities at reasonable rates. Whether you are looking for a unique wedding venue or planning a meeting, class, annual retreat, or birthday party, we hope our space may be utilized as an extension of our ministry in the community.

Please note that the church does not have a parking lot. Street parking is available in our residential neighborhood.
The facilities cannot be rented for promotion of commercial enterprises or for direct or indirect use by political campaigns of candidates for elected office. In addition, renting organizations must abide by California non-discrimination laws. The church reserves the right to deny use of the property by any outside group or individual, if such use is contrary to the Church’s mission and its ethical beliefs.

Fellowship Hall

Adjacent to the Fellowship Hall is a modern catering kitchen that is available to be rented in conjunction with the Fellowship Hall.

Miracle Room

Our small meeting room, named in memory of a beloved member of our church, is graced with a Victorian fireplace mantel, abundant natural light, and versatile tables and chairs to seat 10 to 12 people. Wireless internet is also available.

Our beautiful vaulted Sanctuary with a center aisle and pews arranged in a crescent configuration lends itself to a perfectly intimate wedding, holy union, commitment ceremony, or renewal of vows. With a maximum seating capacity of 250 people, the Sanctuary is awash in the light of vintage stained-glass windows and excellent acoustics to amplify the sound of our pipe organ or grand piano. A sound system is available as well.

Ceremony Planning and Ministerial Support

Rev. Laura Rose or Rev. Lacey Hunter will work with you to create a ceremony that celebrates your relationship and honors your spirituality, wherever you find yourself on life’s journey. Reflective of our progressive understanding of the Christian faith, we offer traditional, interfaith, and alternative ceremonies. In addition, as bold advocates of marriage equality, we welcome gay and lesbian couples who are seeking to honor their relationship and their spirituality with a sacred ceremony. We enjoy working with couples to craft a service that combines the use of ritual, prayers, and music in creative ways. Generally, the couple comes to the pastor’s office for two sessions, each an hour and a half long. During this time, we will get to know your history as individuals and as a couple and discuss your hopes and dreams for the future. We will offer you several wedding planning resources and work with you to put together a ceremony that is personal and meaningful.

Organ or Piano Music

Organ and piano accompaniment are available upon request. Our musicians will work in consultation with you and in coordination with the minister and wedding coordinator to assist you integrating music into your ceremony.

Wedding Coordination

First Congregational Church of Alameda offers wedding coordination to assist in creating a beautiful, memorable, and sacred ceremony. Our Coordinator serves as liaison between the couple, church, and minister focusing on ceremony arrangements, decoration, and rehearsal. We can facilitate the choreography and ensure that the ceremony will run smoothly and on schedule. Our sanctuary allows for a traditional wedding march down a center aisle, or both members of a couple may wish to emerge from separate doors located at the back of our chancel. This second option offers a unique and dignified alternative to any ceremony. The couple is welcome to secure their own coordinator, in which case ours will act as representative for the church.
