Preparing for Palm Protest Sunday
Each year we begin the Palm Sunday service with a social justice march, remembering that we too have hopes for a more just world, like Jesus and the disciples did when they led the palm parade/protest. Interested in making a protest sign/poster to carry in worship on April 2? Get inspired with this video by local artist/activist Favianna Rodriguez, “How to Make a Social Justice Poster.”
Maundy Thursday Soup Supper Love Feast
Thursday, April 6 at 6:15pm in the Fellowship Hall
RSVP here
In the spirit of 1st century “Love Feasts” we will gather for a Soup Supper provided by three of our congregant-chefs. Soups will include both meat and vegetarian options. There will be a simple hand-washing ritual, table conversation and a celebration of the Lord’s Supper. If you plan to attend, please RSVP so we know how much soup is needed. Attendees are invited to bring bread, juice or veggies and dip to share.
Joint Good Friday Service
Orinda Community Church is hosting a collaborative Good Friday Service with City of Refuge UCC, First Church Berkeley UCC, and Skyline UCC. You may attend in person or find the livestream here.
Easter Sunday: Walking in the Fullness of Life
We will travel in the footsteps of the first Jesus followers, who, amid the fears and sorrows of that first Easter morning, set out in faith and were surprised by a Love and Joy that we, too, can experience as we open the ears and eyes of our hearts.
All children are invited to participate in our Easter Alleluia proclamations, join in the celebratory singing and gather for the Time with the Children before heading to a special Easter Children’s Church led by Tina Koeberl and David Monarres. And don’t miss the Easter Egg Hunt after worship during fellowship time. Recycled Easter eggs will be once again filled with environmentally friendly goodies, including seed papers and yummy treats.
