From the Justice + Outreach Team
We are looking for someone to coordinate meals for the Midway Shelter, starting immediately. The meals occur 1-2 times per month (3rd Friday and 5th Sunday). This is an important ministry that has been ongoing at FCCA for more than 20 years! The women and children at the shelter receive comfort and are nurtured by the food provided by our community. Midway Shelter Volunteer Coordinator Responsibilities
- Maintain the online sign-up sheet, adding dates/slots as needed
- Provide periodic announcements in church, fellowship time, and Tidings asking for volunteers
- Make sure volunteers have clear instructions about location and timing of food drop-off
- Offer to speak with individuals who express interest but have questions
- Stay in touch with Midway Shelter and find out how many people are in residence during weeks we are responsible
- If there is an emergency and the main part of the meal is missing, be prepared to pick up food from a local store or restaurant (reimbursement is available for this)
- Email regular volunteers when spots are not being filled to ask for contributions
