Dear Ones,
We have a special Sunday coming up. As I said to Ginny during the recent filming of a video – a segment of which you will see this Sunday – it’s not every pastor (or every church) who has the blessing of having a congregant who has been a devoted member for 80 years! Yes, Ginny’s life spans the days of the teletype machine to the internet and now to social media, AI and beyond. She became a member on October 4, 1944 at the age of 19!
From the perspective of the FCCA community, Ginny is an incredible model of faithfulness over time. She has many stories to tell about her life and about our church community over the last eight decades. In a world of increasing transience her rooted presence over these many decades is a priceless gift that we all get to share in.
And so what better way for us to kick off our three-week Stewardship Season theme, Embodying the Kin-dom of God, than to honor Ginny and the ways that she has served our congregation and our wider community.
I am looking forward to a wonderful celebratory worship service and a special fellowship time afterward hosted by members of our Chancel Choir and members of Ginny’s family.
I hope as many of you who can will join us as we share the unique opportunity to embrace the wisdom and life story of one of our beloved elders.
Many Blessings,
Rev. Laura
