The Pastor’s Offering: Chock-full of Blessings

The Pastorā€™s Offering: Chock-full of Blessings

Dear Friends,

This past month has been chock-full of blessings and opportunities. We have had the great joy of welcoming many newcomers to our worship services, gathering folks for an Inquirers Gathering a few weeks ago, and, this past Sunday, gathering many of our families (about 40 adults, youth and children) for a picnic in Krusi Park.

As a community we have begun to find ways to live into our hopes of increasing our presence in our community. This Saturday, a few members of our new Accompaniment Team will meet two mothers and their five children who will be sharing a Shelter in Peace transitional apartment. This initial meeting will be the beginning of a journey in which we as a congregation will offer the support they need over the next year.

And, as I hope you have heard by now, plans are rolling for our participation in the July 4th parade. A truck has been rented, thanks to Carol Graham. New banners have been designed thanks to a connection through Carolyn Villa. Eric Hartz is coordinating all the fine details as well as the printing of our new banners. We hope many of you will sign up to decorate the truck on July 3 and/or consider joining the FCCA contingent for all or a part of the parade. Truly, it is seeing all of us together and proclaiming our inclusivity as a church that makes an impact on folks.

With so much hopping, it does not really feel like summertime is almost here, but alas it is. I will be taking some time off beginning Monday, June 12 through July 2. My family will be heading out for our annual road trip to visit or revisit some National Parks we have not fully been able to explore yet (Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Zion and Bryce). I am looking forward to this time to soak in the beauty of the natural world and to soak in the beauty of being with my family.

Please be sure to note the information about pastoral on-call coverage (below) as we want to be sure you know who to call during the time that both Rev. Lacey and I are away.

You will be blessed these next weeks during Worship. On Sunday, June 18 our fellow UCC minister, Rev. Rhina Ramos, will be preaching, and then the next two Sundays our own Rev. Sophia and Rev. Jonathan.

It is my prayer that as you move into the summer months, you will find ways to rest and rejuvenate. Know that whenever I am away, I am always holding you all in my care and prayers. I look forward to seeing you all this coming Sunday!

Blessings,
Rev. Laura
