Worship with us! Sundays 10:30am

The Pastor’s Offering: Opening Our Heart Home

Dear Ones,

Here we are again at the start of our new Fall season of ministry together. We have many opportunities coming up this month to deepen our faith and spirituality as well as deepen our connections with one another.

This Sunday is Homecoming, when we officially welcome back our Chancel Choir and our Children’s Church and Youth Group ministries restart. This is also a Sunday when we reflect together on what it means to truly be people who embrace a sense of welcome—of self and others. To this end, we will be reflecting on a famous poem called The Guest House by Rumi, a Sufi mystic. This poem provides a wonderful metaphor for what it means to “open our heart home” and welcome the many emotions that may be rising up within us with all that is going on in our personal lives and the world.

When we say “no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey…” this includes all of what we may be feeling as we enter into community with one another and seek to navigate what it means to be progressive people of faith.

Next week, we welcome our pets and our greater community at the Blessing of the Animals service. We still need help on our welcome team and our fellowship team for this service. Please click here to lend your hands and heart to our efforts.

Please be sure to note that on September 22 we will be Affirming and Blessing most of our Ministry teams and then convening for Table Conversations during Fellowship time as a way to foster greater connections and provide a way for folks to share their gifts and talents as well are receive the support they need. On top of all of fellowshipping, please be sure to join in our Annual Church Picnic at Lincoln Park on September 29 after the worship service!

All of these opportunities to connect make for a very relationally rich September! I look forward to connecting with all of you.

Many Blessings,
Rev. Laura
