The Pastor’s Offering: Youth Group Justice Weekend

Beloveds,

At the end of August, nearly 20 youth members participated in a “Justice Weekend,” hosted at FCCA. Events were held in collaboration with First Congregational Church of Berkeley and The Good Table UCC. On Friday, we reflected on stories about when and how Jesus shared meals as a justice ministry, enjoyed BBQ on the beach prepared by FCCA members Carole, Carolyn, Mark and Teri, and laughed and played as the sun set. On Saturday we talked about what justice means to us and explored how justice can be part of our daily lives, in big and small ways, before heading to El Sobrante to learn about and support The Good Table UCC’s partnership with Planting Justice. I am filled with gratitude for all who helped make this first Justice Weekend possible and for the visions of loving and just faith lives it inspired.
